Maryland's Bygone Covered Bridges

More than 100 authentic Covered Bridges graced the State of Maryland over the past 200 years. Many date back to the early 1800s. The longest was Theodore Burr's Rock Run Bridge, a 4,170 foot, 18 span bridge crossing the Susquehanna River and one of the shortest was 29'-6" Reynold's Covered Bridge over Little Northeast Creek, about 1/4 mile south of Blueball in Cecil County.
Documentation is difficult for bygone bridges for conflicting information is abundant. Most of the information contained for Maryland's Bygone Covered Bridges is based on what was found at various Historical Societies in Maryland, newspaper articles and publications from Covered Bridge Societies. The World Guide Numbers shown for Bygone Bridges are assigned by the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges.

Please check back often as we will continuously add information and pictures while researching Maryland's Bygone Covered Bridges.
